“This organization is one of the best for the animals that it takes in and gives a forever home to be happy and well taken care of. If it weren’t for these incredible people, so many of our creatures would not be alive today. They need the financial assistance to continue their great work. It would be a tragedy for all concerned if they could not continue this fine work.” – Jeanne Z
There is always a need for volunteers! The opportunities PrideRock provides for volunteer work are important to our mission of providing the best possible environment for our animals. If you don‘t mind hard, dirty work in extreme weather conditions, and love big cats, then this is the place for you. There are ways to get involved both at the facility and off-site.
To qualify, you must be at least 18 years of age or older, can commit to two days per month, and work at least 4 hours each day. Work day is from 8:00am-5:00pm each day.
On-site duties will include performing basic grounds keeping and maintenance. This can include general clea-up of the grounds, mowing, landscaping work, and repairing equipment and structures. Occasionally, a construction project may require assistance.
Cleanliness is critical. The food-prep area, animal enclosures, and tool shed need to be cleaned and disinfected regularly. Enrichment and play are very important for the animals. Each enclosure should eb supplied with items that provide this.
If there at feeding time, you will assist in preparation of meals for the cats, feeding of the cats, washing of the food pans, and clean-up of the food prep area.
Most important is feeding time. Preparing meals, feeding the animals, and cleaning the food -prep area are essential. this takes precedent over all other activities.
Off-site duties: this can pertain to anything that promotes PrideRock. Marketing PrideRock, public relations, including signing thank-you cards, ad fundraising are just some of the things that can keep PrideRock’s mission out in the minds of the public.
WE DO HAVE TO EMPHASIZE THAT PRIDEROCK WILDLIFE REFUGE IS A STRICT NO CONTACT FACILITY.
WHILE VOLUNTEERS WORK AMONG THE CATS, THERE IS NO PHYSICAL CONTACT WITH THEM AT ANY TIME.
Please use the form on the Contact Page to ask for information on these opportunities. We look forward to having you volunteer with us!
“My name is Tasha Van Ausdall and I am writing this review so it can get the recognition that it deserves. I have know Gary and Carol for 8 years and have volunteered with the big cats. I have personally seen Gary and Carol sacrifice their own lives for the sake of abused, neglected and abandoned cats. These are not just pets but become family. My volunteer work with them has made a huge impact on my life and has been rewarding. It is therapeutic. Its not everyday that you can get tiger kisses and chuffs when they greet you. You leave with a sense of accomplishment. The work that is done at PrideRock is challenging but yet rewarding.” – Tasha Van Ausdall
