More Volunteers to Thank, and some new to mention

PrideRock Wildlife Refuge is always in need of mature, industrious, hardworking people who want to make a difference in the lives of abused, abandoned, neglected or confiscated animals. Volunteers at PrideRock know that they don't have to wait for a call asking for their help, they are always needed and all they have to do is "Just Do It", call and say I'll help on .... whenever, and there will be something that they can do.

Dawn, Leslie and Betty put the finishing touches on the N'

Sisters enclosure, don't forget to hose off the sidewalk there Dawn or Leslie!

Kelly tries to make friends with one of the Sunshine cougar girls, and it looks like she is making progress. The cat isn't hissing and looks prepared to meet her at the fence.

The guys & girls from A&M Commerce make short order of trimming the low branches of the trees in the compound, and actually made short order of taking the top out of a dead tree in the center of the lions enclosure. They walked the planks very carefully!

Newbie Kristina smiles as she rakes Zoe's enclosure. I think she may decide to come back to be a part of PrideRock.

Maxine also a newcomer, sweeps the cement perimeter of Zoe's enclosure. I think she really is enjoying herself and hope she decides to become a part of PrideRock.

Thanks to PrideRock Volunteers

We have been fortunate to have been fortunate this winter and now into the spring in that we have a number of volunteers that have been with us through thick and thin, through rain and shine. This note is to simply say Thank You!

Teresa and Christine hard at work making sure the rain water doesn't stand in the pens. Rain, rain go away, come again in July or August!!

Teresa has a cart full of poop! If there was just a market for this stuff, we wouldn't have to worry about donations!

Samantha gets the hang of it and begins to enjoy cleaning out the cougar girls cage. Look at that smile on her face!

Gregs only fear is getting 'dishpan hands', as he complete one of his ever so appreciated Monday night feedings.

THANK YOU for your hard work, thank you for making the lives of the cats at PrideRock better and for working with us for the benefit of the cats.

There are projects to be done over the spring and summer and we are confident that you will be with us in everything we do for improvement of PrideRock for the cats.

MORE TO COME, STAY TUNED!

TAMU Commerce volunteers

For the past few months, we have been lucky enough to have had a group of students from TAMU help do some maintenance work including replacing rusted out metal siding on the cougar houses with a new material that won’t rust. When the number of volunteers have been large enough some of them pitched in and gave the compound a general cleaning, which it surely needed with all the leaves falling this time of year. We have included a few pictures of them hard at work. Our friend and volunteer Alexandra, has accompanied the groups each time to make sure everyone didn't starve. We hope to see them again soon and on a regular basis. Our list of projects never seems to end around PrideRock!! Thanks to all of you…

And for those of you wondering - TAMU is Texas A & M University!

Remote Volunteer at work
In March of this year we desperately needed help with the redesign and refurbishing of the PrideRock web site. We had been working on it for about a year and a half, having been helped by at least 4 different 'volunteers' who could not, or would not dedicate enough time for the project. Then enter Ewan Lauder, a new friend and PrideRocks new webmaster. A designer by profession Ewan currently serves as design manager for a software company, based in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Living with his mad cat Sid in a cottage in West Lothian, Ewan spends his evenings and weekends helping out with his girlfriends Highland pony Dougall, and running and advising on a number of projects including the PR website.

Experienced and dedicated to the Cats

volunteer bettyBetty Webb, our Senior volunteer, has been helping us out for several years now.  She is very dedicated to making these animals' lives better and works very hard every weekend at PRWR.  Any potential volunteers go through "Betty's Boot Camp" the first day and if they survive and we see them again, they are going to work out.  As she tells them, the work is hard and dirty, but so worthwhile.  There is much reward in knowing you've made a difference.  We really appreciate all of Betty's consistent hard work and long hours, but seldom get to tell her about it.
