Kristin Cain is our October Employee of the Month and has been with us since early Spring, 2014.

Kristin Cain - Employee of the month at PrideRock

Kristin started out at an all-natural pet store working with domestics. She did dog training for a while and pet sitting. She volunteered at a marine mammal rescue, horse rescue then had her first volunteer experience around tigers at a private non-profit. They introduced her to Wild Things where she interned working full contact with African Elephants and other mammals. While there she got to walk her first tiger, a 9 month old cub named Hobs, and fell in love.

She continued on at Tiger Creek gaining knowledge from a refuge stand-point learning safety etc. Her first employment was at Tiger Safari in Oklahoma where she worked full contact with gibbons, raising a kangaroo, foxes, kinkajou, owl, reptiles, birds, and other small mammals.

Shehas been blessed to find a home at PrideRock working with cats which was her goal. Says Kristin - “What I love most about PrideRock is how peaceful it is and that it is not open to the public. The time can be devoted directly to our animals. This has become my whole life and little family unit. We are growing and I'm excited to be a part of that.”

Her favorite cat is Kumal. She has had the most amazing experience the past few weeks building a relationship with him. Typically he is anxious, loud, hyper and can be aggressive, but the training she has gotten to do with him and the time devoted to him has allowed her to form a trusting bond that even coworkers and volunteers have noticed. Says Kristin - “He absolutely has my heart and I'm excited to see our relationship grow as I continue with him. I continue to learn new things every day and am so happy I can finally say I have my dream job. My ultimate goal would be to raise cubs so if we ever get the opportunity!”

We are blessed to have Kristin with us! Her education and experience have benefitted us greatly. We appreciate tremendously all her hard work and efforts for PrideRock! Thank you Kristin!!

A Dream Come True...

"I think PrideRock has been a dream of mine since I was a kid. I remember my parents taking me to zoos and I would sneak away and sit in front of the lions and tigers in awe, watching them pace back and forth in front of me probably knowing how much they impressed me. I loved them then and I love them now and all my dreams have come true. Our story begins in 1992, in Terrell, Texas... The work is hard and the days are long, but we are blessed beyond measure to have the opportunity to share our lives with these big cats."
