The New Year is here and all is well at PrideRock.  Gary and I were sick through Christmas and New Years, but all the animals have been taken care of and are healthy and happy.

We have lost volunteers and gained new ones and our new meat program is in full swing which should help PrideRock finances considerably.  Gary and a couple of helpers are working hard to make sure all the meat is good that is fed.  We have gotten some great stuff including salmon, steaks, roast, brisket, hamburger and even a little poultry.  With the variety, the cats seem to really like it and get something different each night. 

We have numerous projects in store for this year, some of which were on tab for last year, but we either ran out of money, or just didn’t have the time or people to do the job.  Gary still doesn’t have a job, but we have high hopes for everything coming together in 2010!  My resolution is make sure and blog more frequently so everyone will have a better idea about what is happening at PrideRock this year.

Merry Christmas has come an gone, Carol has been in bed with the flu or something as she  bemoans:

"The closest I can get to my tigers lately is looking at them out of my bedroom window. :-( I'm looking at my girl Shealee laying on her back on top of her house swishing her tail back and forth. Nice.. I'm sure she's wondering where the heck her mom is!! I think I must have the swine flu at this point.."

But as for me, I'm glad that she is getting better by the day and should be as good as new with the beginning of the New Year, So everyone have a Happy and Prosperous New Year!!!

We have a friend who was out over the weekend on crutches and we watched in horror and amazement as Jamu, one of our youngest tigers, freaked out at the sight of the crutches. He went wildly running around the pen, until we removed the crutches from his sight. It was very alarming to us so, today we conducted an experiment, I borrowed crutches from my boss and brought them home for Gary to use to see if they were in fact the source of the stress. I sat with Jamu and Kashmir and waited for Gary to appear. I knew exactly when Gary entered the compound as Jamu's ears went flat and he darted into his house. He crept out close to the ground as Gary got closer and started hissing. Gary slowly came up and after lots of chuffing and hissing simultaneously, he saw that the crutches weren't going to hurt him. Gary made his way around to the other side of his pen and Jamu slowly followed him keeping his guard up.
