Getting by with a little help from friends

Sadly, my precious Apache went to Rainbow Bridge in the early morning hours on June 19. It was a very sad time and we will miss him so much. I know his wish would be for us to make certain his companion Lakota will be loved and taken special care of. Losing these babies continues to be painful to the point of wanting to die with them, but fortunately I have so many left that love us and count on us to be there every day.
I am ashamed to say that I couldn't even help Gary bury him, so our good friend and neighbor Ron Harris was there at a moment's notice with his backhoe to help Gary. At least I was able to take some flowers to his grave and will be ordering a memorial stone in the next day or so. Life goes on as hard as it is. This has been a bad year starting off with the loss of my beloved brother David. I hope and pray that all my loved ones will stay healthy and happy for a long time, but it seems nothing in life is certain. One of my dearest friends, Rosemary, is here for a weekend, the timing couldn't have been better. I know we will share lots of laughs and catching up. All of us at PRWR have missed her so much since her move to Santa Fe a couple of years ago.
Hopefully the rain will take a break this weekend so we can get some much needed work done. With the help of Doug, another great volunteer, Gary is going to try to replace some rusted out panel in Jake's pen. His spraying everyone through the years has definitely contributed to it! Zoe's roof is still leaking so Gary will be replacing the whole thing. He has tried to patch it and repair it to no avail and we have lots of pea gravel to get moved into more pens. The work never ends and if you know of anyone that would be interested in volunteering in the hot summer, let us know!! We really don't have many volunteers and desperately need the help. I know the heat doesn't help, but the work goes on! We had a new website designed and now the volunteer that did it has been unreachable, so hopefully we can find someone else to help us with that. It’s so hard to keep up with everything it seems, especially with full time jobs, but we still believe in our dreams for these beloved animals and believe everything will get done. Hope all of you are having a good summer and thank you again to all of you who have supported us through the years and especially during this very sad time. We take great comfort in knowing that our Apache is free of pain and purring strong.. Carol
